Ride ‘em Cowboy
LOVE ❤️ NATURE
LOVE ❤️ HORSES
LOVE YELLOWSTONE the TV Series.
Then why not combine all 3 on one amazing holiday experience.
A few years ago I had the pleasure of staying at The Covered Wagon Ranch in Montana .
Looking to ride horses in beautiful incredible scenery was my aim, along with being on part of my holiday driving route through Montana , Wyoming , Utah to finish in California.
After much research I found The Covered Wagon Ranch. A Dude Ranch , this meaning that the main source of income if from tourist activity. Think City Slickers the movie.
One of the keys that helped in my decision making was the fact that Kurt & Melissa own lots of horses so they can rest horses after they have lots of riding, this means that the horses are number 1 priority here.
Also staff who work here for the season must also have well behaved horses 🐴 ,dogs 🐕🐾whatever comes with them to the ranch
The Covered Wagon Ranch is ideally located in The Gallatin State Forest only about 3 miles from Yellowstone northwest corner, about 15 minutes from Big Sky Montana , so it’s easy access with or without a car.
The ranch only has 10 cabins so it’s such a personal experience for all.
The cabin we had was beautiful with big bathroom and wood stove.
LETS GO HORSE 🐴 RIDING.
Melissa and or Kurt first have a sit down with you before they decide which horse & rides you are up for. I always under rate my experience , considering I’m not a trained horse rider & limited experience.
We had a glorious 3 night stay included 2 rides, which by the way were over 15 miles each day.!! More than enough!
Our wrangler took us to beautiful parts of Yellowstone state forest , we had our lunch packed in saddle bags & we set off.
Our rides were fantastic cross rivers, traversing the mountains & being at one with nature. After each ride back at the ranch we take off our horses saddle & gear then give our horse some loving by way of brushing, water etc and of courses a cuddle.
Evening time is huge homestyle meals at shared tables were you are treated like family, with everyone getting to know each other.
At every cabin the staff leave a cooler , where you can ice down your drinks 🍹 for the afternoone I also loved have a dip in the river with a ice cold beer in hand at the end of the day.
I must say this was a sensational holiday experience, being in a postcard location with beautiful horses & superb hosts made a lifelong memory.
I hope one day to return.
So not that much into horse riding? There are other activities such as hiking, exploring the beautiful area while still enjoying a ranch stay, Friday. night is a highlight with cowboy cookout with music 🎶 fun & lots of laughs.
If you are thinking this is something you would like do it sooner than later. Horse riding is not for the faint hearted.
Look at the Covered Wagon Website for details .and you’ll want to go back like I do.
Tipping my hat to the beautiful Pucket family & staff and especially horses 🐴 at the ranch.
