So Most people Show the beautiful Sunsets Perfect Blue Sky days which is great, but its not always the case………

Sometimes Mother Nature has a other plans that challenge, & bring fear to the heart & mind.

Last week case in point. Briefly Captain Raft & myself had to bring our yacht home after having her antifouled & new propeller fitted, we were governed by the tides & time so TIME TO GO

Sunday was a shocking day driving rain with a 3 metre swell . We caught the ferry from Ettalong to Palm Beach on this 35 minute journey that felt like a lifetime. We had a dog barking in sheer terror, children crying & screaming, a special needs person screaming in fear & everyone else holding on for dear life!!!

I’m sitting frozen not in fear that day. Usually I’d love this ferry ride , but I knew that we had to come back this way tomorrow .

After boarding Sans Terre it started raining & mist set in, again time slowed down Captain Raft & I were soaking wet however there comes a time when you cannot get wetter so its best just to surrender to it. Finally we picked up a mooring at The Basin in Pittwater for a soggy, rough night before the morning crossing.,

In true honesty not much sleep was had, my stomach in knots , my heart in my throat thinking about the ferry crossing & what we had to do at 0600!!

Morning came after a rainy sleepless night. Not much conversation just going over our plan, life jackets on, log in with marine rescue, release mooring & off we motor.

Lucky for us the swell dropped because of the wind to about 1 ,1/2 meters , Sans Terre new prop went so well so our crossing wasn’t as bad as I had envisioned .

Once around 1/2 tide rocks we were clear, time to make coffee & finally breathe!

I do know that Captain Raft was flawless & if there was a chance extreme danger we would have just waited & not risked ourselves , yacht or anyone else.

So yes there are good days, great sunsets, sunrises but also rainy, shit , rough days too .
