Go West Girls Road Trip part 1 Broken Hill
G’Day & Welcome to my tasting plate Road Trip to Broken Hill, Mildura & Griffith
Part 1 Broken Hill.
Why ? Friends & family did ask , actually it was spur of the moment as we were going for a east coast beach break, however the devastating rains put our plans out, so Blue Skies, friendly folks was what we were wanting……..So Go West Gals , a bucket list destination! Broken Hill IT WAS !!!!
We begin by acknowledging the Tubbagah, Wangaaypuwan, Wongaibon, & Wilyakali people . Traditional custodians of the land we travelled & pay respects to their elders, past, present & emerging.
Our Road Trip to Broken Hill approx 1200 km we decided to do in 2 days. Our route was from The Central Coast north west thru Upper Hunter, Denman , Dubedoo, Dubbo, Nyngan, Cobar then Broken Hill.
We decided to travel as far as we could with light , road safety, determining our far we could get the first day .
We had a rest stop in Denman definitely worth the 1 km detour then drove through picturesque scenery of rolling hills, valleys towards Dubbo where we decided to stay the night.
Leaving Dubbo bright & early we knew we had a big day of driving. Breakfast in the town of Nyngan, making sure we filled up with fuel, checking tyres & water .
NO ONE TOLD US ABOUT THE GOATS 🐐!!!!
OMG. You must keep your wits about you , the scenery is gorgeous but keep eyes peeled for the wildlife goats, kangaroos, emus & even wild dogs.
Lunch & rest stop in Cobar if we had the time we would have stayed overnight. The town is a true Australian outback town, a fabulous park with the best public toilets ever.no kidding !!
Our last push into Broken Hill through the town of Wilcannia worth a quick stop for photo but don’t rely on getting fuel there.
Arriving in Broken Hill at approx 3.30 pm. Staying at the Ibis Styles right on Argent Street & only a few blocks from the heart ❤️ of town.
Very impressed with welcome & spacious clean rooms plus a pool for those hot days.
Cobar worth a visit maybe even a night stop if time permits.
