Locals Guide to Hunter Valley
LIKE GOOD FOOD LOVE WINE & ONLY A COUPLE OF HOURS FROM SYDNEY THEN MAYBE COME TO THE HUNTER VALLEY
The Hunter Valley only 120 kms from Sydney, bursting at the seams with fantastic wineries amazing restaurants & great accommodation options.
Hunter valley is primarily known for its Shiraz & Semillon however there are also other fantastic varieties stop choose from.
Here are a couple of my favourite places to visit that I hope you enjoy as much as I have
David Hooks Wine.
Focused more on the Mediterranean style of wines. David was one of the first wine makers to make Pinot Grigio in the Hunter valley .Personally I quite enjoy the more food driven wines here from Pinot Grigio, Barbera, Sangiovese & Nebbiolo. Please remember to book for a tasting. Nearby area has Enzo restaurant also a couple of shops to spend a little time at.
Tamburlaine Organic Wines
These guys tick all the right boxes to have a commitment to Sustainability, Vineyard Health & minimal Sulphur which is great for some people who find that’s the thing keeping them from drinking reds.
In addition they offer Case for A Cause . $50 goes to the Fundraiser of your choice WIN WIN
Peterson’s House. Ideal place to start with your tasting . Peterson’s specialises in sparkling wine I love their motto “ Life is flat without bubbles “ .On site is their restaurant, Restaurant Cuvée reservations highly recommended , plus The Chocolate shop..is next door !!!
My personal favourites are the Prosecco Rose & Brut Rose . So if there for a tasting maybe add these to your requests

Their Duetto is a must, but try to go out of your comfort zone & experience something different.
Breads, crackers, salami, olives are all on offer.
Head to Lovedale to find Binnorie Dairy
I Hop Hunter transfer. Great for groups of all sizes. I have found them to be reliable, friendly.
There are many options to choose from , think best to avoid driving …. you want to taste some wines?
Accomodation is varied & there are so many options for romantic getaways, girls & guys trips etc , a lot of accommodation has 2 night stay on weekends . I’ve stayed at quite a few I try to book a place that has space to sit & relax with a wine & maybe some cheese you have purchased.
My go to is The Vintage , Tuscany Estate.
Note: I have not received payment from any places listed or ask for freebies to endorse. Places I’ve listed are from my personal experience & at my cost.
